When sending a link to a phishing victim you can masquerade your URL link by using a URL shortener. There are two main benefits to this:
- Hiding the destination URL
- Tracking Clicks
Some sites like Bitly allow you to track click and can provide additional analytics to gain insight on users navigating to you malicious link.

Homograph Technique
This attack is not really applicable since many of the domain registers wont allow homoglyphs. For example I own the domain:

ap3xlab.net
# Homoglyph
οΌ‘p3xlab.net
In the screen shot below I try to purchase the homograph domain of the same domain I already own, but Namecheap doesnβt recognize it and shows that the original domain is already taken.
I only wanted to show this as its a pretty clever ideaβ¦
